Pamela Pik started her college consulting business after completing a seven-course program, through UCLA, to receive a Certificate in College Counseling. This program included classes on: the application process, standardized testing, financial aid, and special issues. The courses culminated in a nine-week, 65-hour internship with a college advisory firm in New Canaan. Since 2010, Pam has been advising students in the area.
Pam is an Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). She attended the 4-day IECA Summer Training Institute in 2009. She subscribes to the IECA’s Principles of Good Practice*, and visits 15 – 20 colleges each year. Pam is a certified administrator of the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator Instrument, which she offers to all her clients.
Pam’s previous career was in magazine publishing. She worked at TIME, Sports Illustrated, and PEOPLE magazine, holding positions in marketing and financial management. She graduated from Stanford University, and holds an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
Pam has three children and has survived the college process with all three.
